5 Mistakes New Buyers Might Make When Choosing Artificial Grass
For new buyers, artificial grass can look similar at first glance. Color, soft or firm touch, and attractive price are easy to compare. But real quality is often found in the details and actual use experience.
Since 1998, we have worked with different artificial grass projects and buyers. Many problems can be avoided if buyers understand a few common mistakes before placing an order.
Mistake 1: Focusing only on price.
Price is certainly important, especially for distributors and project purchasers. However, the lowest price does not always mean the best value. Turf quality has long-term impact on project image and operating costs. The cost of artificial grass is influenced by yarn material, pile height, density, stitch gauge, backing quality, coating weight, UV resistance, and production control.
Mistake 2: Thinking that the higher the grass, the better the quality.
Taller grass appears denser visually, but it is not always better. For pets, balconies, exhibitions, or high-traffic areas, medium-height grass may be easier to maintain and more practical. Quality should be judged by the overall specification, not just pile height.
Mistake 3: Ignoring the Backing
Backing is easy to overlook because buyers usually focus on the top surface. But backing affects durability, drainage, installation, and product stability. A good backing should be strong enough for the application, stable during installation, suitable for outdoor conditions, and not easy to crack or separate.
Mistake 4: Using One Product for All Applications
Landscape grass, pet turf, sports turf, and playground turf have different requirements. A product that works well for a garden may not be suitable for a football field. A soft decorative turf may not last long in a busy commercial area.
Mistake 5: Not Checking Factory Experience and Quality Control
New buyers sometimes only ask for price and delivery time. Factory experience matters, especially when stable quality is needed for repeated orders. Buyers can ask about production experience, raw material control, sample consistency, inspection process, packing method, loading experience, and previous cases.
Conclusion
Choosing artificial grass is not difficult, but new buyers should avoid judging only by price, pile height, or photos. A better way is to understand the application, compare full specifications, and work with a factory that can explain the details clearly.
